The Natural Makeup We Can’t Live Without

March 7, 2016

We have a major crush on Alima Pure. Alima is an all natural, hypoallergenic, and cruelty-free makeup brand! As if that wasn’t enough, they have been carbon neutral for 7 years by offsetting 100% of their corporate carbon emissions. The most important part of all is that this makeup works and it works well. It is all good when a cosmetics company can be natural and eco-conscious, but if it doesn’t work you won’t catch us using it! Before Alima Pure, we were two clueless little hippies hopping from one disappointing face makeup to another, often with a mismatched face to neck situation. Then Alima came into the picture. Hallelujah, Praise Be! Finally, we found a foundation that matched perfectly, covered well, looked completely natural, and improved our skin. Since then, we have been hooked!

We absolutely cannot live without the Satin Matte foundation. The mineral powder melts into your skin and looks completely seamless, natural, and radiant. It has a buildable coverage so it’s great whether you need a sheer look or have something more to cover. This mineral foundation also laaaasts! We love to buff it on after prepping with a skin oil like jojoba oil, rosehip oil, argan oil, or hemp oil, then setting it with arrowroot powder. It also works well over a primer if that is something you like to use. Our favorite part of this foundation is the color selection. They have 45 shades of gorgeous catering to a wide range of colors and undertones. We both have medium dark skin with very yellow undertones. Every other natural makeup brand looked way too pink or orange on us. This was always our biggest problem. So, we got samples for super cheap before fully committing to Alima. Being that Alima is a smaller company and they are based out of Oregon, it can be hard to try on their products in person. That’s why these brilliant folks came up with a sampling program. You can sample any foundation for $1.75 or get the “find your match” kit for $24. They have excellent makeup artists on hand to help you figure out your match via message or the “find your match” kit offers a range of 10 samples in your skintone family, a Kabuki brush, and $10 dollars off a full sized foundation. We have only witnessed our skin improve since using this foundation and highly recommend it to replace your old toxic makeup.

While the Satin Matte foundation is our favorite Alima product, they do have a full and ever expanding line of pure and high quality products. Alima also carries a great contour powder that’s the perfect not too muddy, and not too orange tone to sculpt your face into perfection. Their bronzer and blush are pigmented and natural looking at the same time. Everything we’ve tried so far has been spot on. Based on Alima’s many awards and glowing reviews, we have no doubt that the rest of their line is just as amazing. We have major plans to try more of their products and let you know how it works for us! We are not being endorsed to review Alima. We just sincerely love the brand. We hope that you give them a try, but more importantly that you are now more open to finding natural and cruelty-free brands to replace your current makeup stash.
